Jewell Dalina

Raw. Haunting. One-of-a-kind.

Jewell Dalina’s paintings are less viewed than felt-each piece an encounter that bypasses the intellect and lands with the force of memory. Trained first as a pastry chef, Dalina brings a tactile sensitivity to her practice, layering soft pastels and mixed media into compositions that seem to evolve at random, yet always resolve into organic, deeply resonant forms. Her works, such as “i keep remembering, i keep remembering, my heart has no pity on me” and “everything i have let go of has claw marks on it,” pulse with the duality of agápi and thlípsi-love and grief-drawing from religious iconography and the plural nature of human affection. Dalina’s exhibitions in Singapore, Kyoto, Taipei, and Tokyo mark a swift ascent, but it’s the emotional clarity of her art that lingers: these are not paintings you simply see, but moments you experience, each mark a testament to the ache and beauty of connection
